Recent trends in e-learning research in media sciences

Abstract

The study aimed to explore and analyze Arab and foreign scientific research (Ph.D. theses and scientific research published in refereed periodicals) related to e-learning research related to studying media, during the period from 2015 to 2021, to uncover research problems or issues that were addressed by the studies under analysis, frameworks or models. The theory that I relied on, the methods used, the data collection tools, and the most important results they reached, to provide a future vision, and to propose a set of recommendations related to future research directions for Arab researchers, and how to use these modern areas when using e-learning.
The current analytical presentation belongs to descriptive studies, which is based on the survey approach in the method of analyzing data from the second level and secondary analysis for research on the use of e-learning in the field of media, published in foreign and Arab refereed journals, as well as Arab and foreign doctoral theses from 2015 to 2021. The sample number is 72 studies, including 31 Arab studies and 41 foreign studies.
The study indicated the diversity of research issues raised by Arab and foreign studies and research that dealt with e-learning in the media sciences to include all dimensions of the educational process and the effect of using the Internet on it, with a focus on students as the most important axes of the educational process. On the survey method and the questionnaire tool as the main tool in data collection, the study also found that most Arab studies lack a theoretical framework that explains their results, except for a few of them, the most important of which was the usage and gratification approach
