The intense exposure of youth to social media pages, including the contents of crime, may provide them with new criminal ideas, may increase their readiness, or may provoke the underlying instinct of aggression or provide them with the philosophical framework that justifies the commission of the crime, especially with social, economic and cultural changes in our Egyptian society, which have had a clear impact on the spread of crime, which has become a threat to the security and safety of the nation and the citizen.
The study seeks to identify the role of social media in shaping the trends and perceptions of youth "sample the study" towards the reality of crime and its seriousness. Also, this study will be based on Cultivation theory
It employed survey methodology and comparative approach by using the questionnaire tools and the focus discussion group.
The study community in the Egyptian youth community in the age group (18-35) is determined by male and female users of social media, by applying to 150 researchers.
The results of the study showed the interest of young people in following terrorist crimes through social media by 46%, followed by crimes against the family by 44%, and suicides by 34%.
Also, It was found that there are a number of positive values that social media instills on youth after being exposed to the contents of the crime, with the introduction of "caution" with 58.7%, followed by "rejection of violence and crime" by 37.3%, negative values came "feeling of fear and anxiety" by 57.3% and then "feeling depressed" by 54%.
Moreover, the dissemination of the contents of the crime through social media "commitment to objectivity and accuracy obtained 52.7% of the total sample, followed by avoidance of slander and defamation by 48.7%.
