The Relationship between Infographics in Print Media and the Awareness and Attitudes of University Students towards Sustainable Development

Abstract

This study explores the attitudes of university students towards infographics in print newspaper. Also, it seeks to know whether infographics contribute to the knowledge of university students about sustainable development. By employing the Media Dependency theory, the study conducts a survey on (300) university students from September 2018 to April 2019.
The main findings of the study are:
- The majority of university students (78.3%) are preferring to read infographics in print media because, from their point of view, infographics is an easy and more interesting way to present information.
- Considering sustainable development topics in print media, university students are not following these topics because they think these topics are using complex technical expressions.
- According to the participants, sustainable development infographics are contributing to their awareness about economic, social, security, environmental issues.
