Three unresolved methodological and theoretical issues in media discourse analysis continue to be overlooked in Arab and Egyptian media studies, as theories and methodologies are not fixed axioms but require constant revision, development, and innovation. Among the tools in need of critical reassessment is media discourse analysis itself, which—despite significant advancements over the past two decades—still faces persistent challenges on three levels: the temporal framework of discourse analysis, the discursive strategies of social actors, and the extratextual influences (beyond the text) tied to the role of institutions and ideologies in shaping discourse.
