Abstract

The study aimed to explore parents' attitudes towards the role of TikTok in developing children's talents, as well as to examine how parents guide their children in selecting the content they follow on the platform and the patterns of TikTok usage among children from the perspective of the parents. Conducted with a purposive sample of 400 Egyptian parents, the research revealed several key insights. The hypothesis that there is a statistically significant correlation between children's interest in engaging with TikTok content and their parents' attitudes towards TikTok videos was confirmed, with parents acknowledging TikTok's potential role in fostering children's talents. Similarly, the study validated the hypothesis that a statistically significant correlation exists between children's level of engagement with TikTok and their parents' attitudes, again affirming the platform’s role in nurturing talents from the parents’ perspective. Additionally, the hypothesis that there is a statistically significant correlation between children's desire to use TikTok and the degree to which parents regulate or guide their children's content choices was also confirmed. These findings collectively underscore the interplay between parental attitudes and children's TikTok usage, particularly in the context of talent development.
