Abstract

Social media networks have a significant impact on the culture, economy and overall worldview of society. They also allow for the presentation and discussion of a large number of societal issues. They are a free media platform that enables people to express their opinions. The problem of the study stems from the interest of social media networks in the issue of elections, especially after the revolutions of January 25 and June 30, and what this may mean in terms of the huge impact that such sites have on the public, as these pages are a tool for political electoral propaganda. Social media also has a great ability to influence public opinion. Various political parties and forces have begun to use them as tools to attract the public, especially in elections, in order to support their candidates and thus increase participation rates. On the other hand, it has provided the opportunity for opposition political movements to use these means to influence electoral voting rates or direct the voting behavior of individuals towards certain candidates over others. Based on these facts, the role of social media networks in creating and effecting change in all areas of life is highlighted. Thousands participate in the political process through the media in order to express their opinions on their issues. Today, political parties have websites and pages on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and others, as social media networks record a large presence for all party movements.
