Abstract

This study aimed to explore the extent to which Saudi daily newspaper websites employ modern digital technologies to present interactive multimedia news content. The study falls under descriptive research and adopts the descriptive-analytical approach. A content analysis form was used as a tool for data collection, targeting news content published on Saudi daily newspapers’ websites: Okaz, Al-Watan, Al-Yaum, and Al-Madina during the period from May 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024. A total of 206 pieces of content were analyzed.
The findings revealed that Saudi daily newspaper websites primarily relied on traditional methods of presenting news content by using short commentary on events instead of journalistic arts. They also limited their use of digital multimedia tools to infographics as the sole digital medium for publishing interactive multimedia news content. Furthermore, these websites demonstrated diversity in the topics of the journalistic materials they published during the study period.
The study uncovered statistically significant differences in the level of reliance on multimedia by Saudi daily newspaper websites based on the prioritization of journalistic content topics. Additionally, significant differences were found in the level of reliance on multimedia based on the prioritization of journalistic forms..
