Abstract

Climate change is a global concern that threatens the stability of the world, prompting media outlets to extensively cover its implications. This study focuses on analyzing the media discourse surrounding climate change in the websites of Egyptian, Arab, and international news agencies. The research examines the content presented, the language used in the discourse, the fields of connotation identified, and the extent to which the political and intellectual orientations of the websites are reflected in the arguments and evidence used. The study sample consists of media content from news agencies such as Middle East News Agency (Egypt), Emirates News Agency (UAE), Agency France-Presse (France), and America in Arabic News Agency (USA). The research employs a survey method to analyze the content provided on the news agency websites, including official speeches and statements. Additionally, the study utilizes discourse analysis and analyzes the language used to address climate change issues. The results highlight that the arguments presented in climate change discourse on the selected news agency websites include the international stance on climate change, practical initiatives to address various aspects of the issue, mobilizing support, endorsement, and funding for climate change initiatives, as well as different perspectives on mitigating the impacts of climate change.
