The public's attitudes toward portrayals of social relationships in Egyptian drama and their relationship to their social frustration levels

Abstract

The study aimed to monitor the public's attitudes towards portrayals of social relationships in Egyptian drama and identify the themes presented in Egyptian drama that led to social frustration among the audience. The study falls under the category of descriptive research and employed a media survey methodology. It relied on questionnaires, the Social Relationships Scale, and the Social Frustration Scale, which were applied to a sample consisting of 383 individuals from various segments of the Egyptian audience. The study found the following: - There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the impact of Egyptian drama on the social relationships of the audience and their level of social frustration. The presentation of social relationships in Egyptian drama, as perceived by the audience, leads to a sense of responsibility towards children. This aspect ranked first with a weight of 3.50%, The second-ranking theme was "participation in decision-making," with a weight of 3.40%, "Respect and appreciation" ranked third, with a weight of 3.39%, "Moral and social decay" is one of the most important themes presented in Egyptian drama as it is believed to lead to social frustration. It ranked first with a percentage of 91.6%, The theme of "illicit relationships" ranked second with a percentage of 90.2%. The theme of "Western cultural influence" ranked third with a percentage of 87.4%.
