Infographic Treatment of Social Issues in Yemeni News Sites

Abstract

The study aimed to examine the usage of infographics in Yemen news sites. By conducting an analysis on 269 infographics that have been published in two different news sites (Almushahid net (66), NewsYemen (203), between 1/11/2019 and 31/10/2020. The study found that 86 percent of the infographics in “Almushahid net” covered issues on social (health) issues. Whereas “NewsYemen” used 40 percent of the infographics on politics issues. Another result showed that 92 percent of the infographics in “Almushahid net” were used to tell the latest news, with 89 percent of accurate information (sources cited), while 39 percent of the infographics in “NewsYemen” used for incitement against specific parties, and did not mention the sources of information by 63 percent.
