This study seeks to know the role of Egyptian print media including national, private, and party newspaper in spreading information among the general public about the most important corruption issues in the Egyptian society by employing the Media Dependency Theory. Thus, the study conducts a survey on a purposive sample of newspaper readers in Egypt from January to June (2018).
The main findings of the study are:
The majority of participants are younger in age and the researcher explain this finding that older ages are now follow social media sites instead of reading printed newspaper.
Most participants depend on private newspaper more than national and parties’ newspaper to gain information about corruption in Egypt. They explain this choice that the private newspaper is always publish latest news about corruption and that it is faster and more exclusive in covering corruption news than national and parties’ newspaper.
The most important corruption issues in the Egyptian Society are mass media corruption and judicial corruption.
