Abstract

The culture of dialogue derives its importance from the fact that it enhances the cultural values ​​of communication between individuals, and in the new information space, social media has become the main mediator of communication between members of the public, especially young people, as it represents an open arena for dialogue in all directions and between different cultures with great freedom. It is supported by the absence of control over the visions and ideas presented on different social platforms. In addition, young people represent the broad public that depends on the communication sites in their dialogue with the other, and participates all the time in the ongoing dialogues in different ways between presenting their point of view or providing information or sharing it with the parties to the conversation, In addition to his participation in expressing his opinion on various issues, and in the framework of this, he chooses who to conduct the dialogue with him, in a virtual world that includes a number of individuals, some of whom he previously knew and others he did not know, and between his conviction of the proposed idea or his rejection of it, a question mark that raises himself: Have websites been able to Social communication with all the advantages it provides as a platform that formed an outlet for freedom of opinion and expression in various ways with different individuals and the diversity and difference of their visions, ideas, environments and orientations in support of a culture Therefore, the problem of the study crystallized in the following question, what are the attitudes of young people towards the role of social networking sites in supporting the culture of dialogue.
 
Study results and discussion:
- Almost half of the youth sample in this study uses social media at a rate of more than six hours per day, while more than a third of the sample uses them at a rate of (three hours to five hours), which indicates a high rate of use of the study sample for communication sites. Social.
- There are many and varied ways for young people to participate in the dialogue on social media platforms, where the forefront of which came to comment on the issues and topics raised, while more than half of the youth expressed their interest in participating by supporting the opinions that support their point of view.
- The current study also showed that young males participate in discussing issues and topics raised on social networking sites with the aim of expressing their point of view towards these issues with a clear difference from females, while the female sample of the study participates in discussing issues and topics raised on social networking sites with the aim of obtaining information about the topic in question.
- The results of the current study also indicated that political issues are at the top of the issues that are closely related to the low level of the ongoing dialogue, followed by technical issues in the second place.
- The study indicated that the most prominent issues that occupied the youth of the study sample with dialogue on social media is the issue of constitutional amendments, while the case of the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi comes in second place for issues of interest to young people.
