The role of press websites in educating Egyptian youth about sustainable development, "Egypt Vision 2030”: An applied study

Abstract

 The study dealt with monitoring the role that press websites play in educating Egyptian youth about sustainable development and Egypt’s vision 2030. It used the media survey method and focus groups for groups of Egyptian youth, and qualitative analysis of three press websites identified as a result of discussion groups, and a field study on an available sample of Egyptian youth who Their ages range between 18-36 years in various Egyptian governorates and used the theory of social responsibility and social marketing. After reviewing the scientific heritage in the field of the current study, and its application to the public and press sites, the study reached a number of results, the most important of which are:

- The three press websites, the sample of the study (Al-Ahram portal - Youm7 website - Al-Wafd electronic portal) dealt with issues related to sustainable development and Egypt's vision 2030.
- The sites focused on the economic field, one of its fields of sustainable development, followed by topics related to the social field, and then the environmental, security and political fields in a fourth place.
- The three sites focused on topics related to encouraging the private sector, international economic cooperation, highlighting the results of economic reform, and the attendance of ministers concerned with the subject and officials in conferences and seminars on sustainable development, and the dissemination of a culture of self-employment. They also dealt with “green bonds” and women and the importance of their participation in sustainable development, as indicated. To the development witnessed by the medical field, and the development of education.
- Topics related to the environmental field focused on legislation related to preserving the environment, water shortage and its relationship to sustainable development, waste recycling, the disappearance of the black cloud at the time of rice harvest, and ecological balance.
- The three sites paid less attention to the political field and political reform and focused on the constitutional amendments only, despite the fact that political issues were at the forefront of topics preferred by the respondents.
