Abstract

Regarding the political developments and societal transformations - which the country has been going through since the January 25 revolution, 2011, and the accompanying political and security transformations in the Arab region - there is a need for self-evaluation in the field of Arab media scientific research, and the need to maximize the benefit from previous Arabic and foreign studies, which represent a step towards the possibility of making comparisons and starting to plan a more in-depth research vision. Therefore, the problem of the study is crystallized in monitoring and analyzing the ethics of media treatment of terrorism as studied by media research.
A review of the scientific heritage related to the ethics of media treatment of terrorism issues from 2012 to 2018 revealed that there are no clear differences between Arab research and foreign research in the interest in studying the ethics of media treatment of terrorism; Where the analytical study found that 37 research papers from the study sample were concerned with studying the professional and ethical standards for media treatment of terrorism, while 60 research papers from the study sample dealt with the ethics of media treatment of terrorism implicitly by addressing these researches of the relationship between the media and terrorism.
The analytical study concluded with the agreement of both Arab and foreign research in studying both aspects of professional and ethical practice of media treatment of terrorism, and studying the pressures and problems that impede adherence to professional and ethical standards. While the difference appeared in that foreign research was the most interested in studying the factors affecting media treatment of terrorism, while Arab research was concerned with monitoring proposals for confronting professional and ethical challenges when dealing with terrorism in the media.
