The aim of the research is to identify the degree of appreciation of university librarians for the importance of a group of technical competencies in light of the trend towards digital transformation in universities, and recent developments, by employing of a questionnaire, in order to work on completing the technological competencies that may be needed by workers in libraries and information in Saudi universities.
This study relies on the analysis of a purposive sample that includes all library and information workers at King Abdulaziz University, as a model for Saudi universities that adopt digital transformation and electronic management processes, and to achieve the objectives of this research. The researcher prepared a questionnaire in three rounds according to the Delphi method, distributed over several domains. The data will be processed statistically through frequencies, percentages, arithmetic means, standard deviations, "T" test, and the analysis of monolithic variance, and the researcher used the descriptive and analytical approach, as it is considered the most appropriate to conduct such The study concerned with collecting a set of technical competencies needed for workers in university libraries, and indicating the degree of their importance from their point of view, and the results showed the importance of the competencies that have been agreed upon with great importance, and in light of these results the research recommended a set of recommendations, which was the need to adopt these competencies in Programs of information technology departments in Saudi universities, as well as training courses for library and information workers in Saudi universities
